4 Things You Can Do to Hear the Voice of God with Clarity

The last few days I have been moving strongly in the prophetic realm and in hearing the voice of God for specific details. Last night I took a team out with me to the food court at the local mall for an exercise in hearing the voice of God. The exercise was to prophesy to a stranger, by writing down on a sheet of paper 2 or 3 things that the Holy Spirit would like to share with them. We then identified a young lady a few tables away from us and decided to choose her.  2 of the things that I received from God about her was that she is a big dreamer, and that her big dreams have alienated members of her family. I also heard from God that she likes pets, especially cats. So altogether we had about 9 or 10 things that the Holy Spirit wanted to say to her. I then approached her with the sheet of paper we wrote…and it totally blew her away. She confirmed everything that we said, and even said she is pet lover and has two cats!

God wants to speak to you, and reveal things about other people to you. Why? Simply because God loves people! Nothing melts people’s hearts quicker than a word straight from the throne room. Yet people show their responsiveness to the Spirit in various different ways. Some people, who are not familiar with God will probably not show any reaction, or give you a cold facial expression. For example, one girl that I ministered to yesterday in the food court showed absolutely no emotion. She was walking in the food court with her two friends and I asked all 3 of them if they wanted to know what God wanted to share with them. Then I pointed to the girl and said, ‘you want to know, don’t you?’ She nodded and sat down at our table and I began to speak into her life as the Holy Spirit began to reveal things. I told her that she was very creative, and that God has given her the ability to draw. Then Angelica chimed in and began to reveal additional things to the girl. All the while this girl show absolutely no emotion. Usually people will have a big smile on their face, or begin to cry, but she showed nothing. Then the Holy Spirit showed me a candy with a hard shell on the outside, but a soft core on the inside. (Angelica received that same vision by the way). So I told the girl what I saw, that she had a hard exterior, that she puts up for protection, but in fact she has a soft heart.

So how exactly do you tap into what the Spirit is saying? Yes He wants to reveal things, but how do you get Him to reveal it to you? Here are 4 things you can do to begin to hear the voice of God to minister to others.

1. Pray in tongues alot. . Tongues is a free gift that is available to every believer. 1 Corinthians 2 says that when you pray in tongues you are speaking the wisdom of God in a mystery, hidden wisdom. You are releasing wisdom constantly the more you speak in this heavenly language. But you know what most people don’t do after they speak in tongues? Ask for the interpretation of what they just prayed. The interpretation can come immediately or later on throughout the day in the form of a vision, thought, or idea. 2. Forget about yourself. Christ wants to move through you, but many times you can limit his power by “you” getting in the way. Many years ago when they asked minister John G. Lake how was he able to perform such miracles. They assumed it was because he was extraordinarily gifted or possessed some sort of ability. He responded, “I am not able to do these things because of who I am, I am able to do these things because I am able to forget who I am.” Key point: You are not the one healing people or prophesying to anyone, it is Christ in you. Forget about yourself, so that Christ can arise. Decrease, so that He may increase.

3. Position yourself to hear. You know why most people don’t hear? Because they do not expect to hear. You must actually expect God to speak words to you. At first it will probably be more generic things, than actually specific details such as names or medical conditions, but continue to press in. Matthew 7:7-11 says to ask (in this case, ask for a word) and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asks receives.

4. Take risks-Step out of the Boat! Once you begin speaking you will notice the Holy Spirit will start flooding your mind with thoughts, vision, or even impressions. Some might seem pretty out there (such as a name or specific detail), but you will never know if it is God or not until you step out in faith! The more you do it, the more confident you will become in it. Yet each time it will take faith, so there will always be that sense of being unsure. Just go for it! The more you are willing to risk, the greater the reward. Sure you can say, “I want you to know that God loves you…” and then as you grow, step out and say “I want you to know that God loves you, and not to worry about that interview, God has a better job for you next week!”

Remember to practice practice practice. Allow the Holy Spirit in you to flood your thoughts, so keep your mind free of junk that can clog your soul. Junk like bad television, fear, or worthless conversation can creep into your thinking and negatively affect you.

You can do it!

    • Hi, Ann! I see there wasn’t a response to your comment, but I have a suggestion (I hope you can read this)… select all the text, copy it, and then past it into a Word document. Then, change the color of the font to black there. You can also change the size. I hope that will help!

nice teachings, what if what u prohpesy does not TRUE?like an incidents of a pastor said to a member that he has been in prison b4 but,the member said it was a lie,I would have love to recieve more light in respect of such cases to avoid GOD says when GOD did not say,may be is my faith that is not taking this now,but I know if I put more interes, the teaching will sink in me.GOD bless u .

    • This was good teaching. My question is can the atmosphere in church and negative spirits hinder you from hearing God. Sometimes the atmosphere is not conducive for prophesying. But I may have answered my own question. In your teaching you said focus on the individual and not yourself.
