Where Does the Devil Get His Power??

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on August 24, 2014 by troyanthonysmith

What I am about to reveal is the little known truth about satan’s power.

Each day, I interact with multitudes of Christians from around the globe, and the majority of them are being defeated in some area of their life. Sickness, depression,  and poverty are running rampant in the Body of Christ. So if Jesus defeated satan on the cross, then where is he getting this power to defeat believers?

Satan gets his power from the Word of God

Huh? What did you just say Pastor Troy???

That’s right, the devil gets his power from the Word of God. Or to put it another way, he gets his power from your ignorance of the Word of God. The Word of God says that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. It also says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Jesus Himself said that whatever you believe in your heart will manifest, ” you shall have what you say”

Okay, so how does this relate to the devil?

The devil knows that the best way to destroy you (actually the only way), is to let you destroy yourself. But you are not going to willingly shoot yourself in the head, hang yourself, or deliberately sabotage your career or your marriage. Yet we know that these things happen every single day across the world. But how? How does He get us to willingly destroy ourselves?

The devil has perverted the most powerful spiritual truth that Jesus and Solomon both revealed to us. Jesus said, that you will have whatsoever you say, if you don’t don’t doubt in your heart. Anything that you believe in your heart, and confess with your mouth, will be made manifest, whether it is salvation, receiving the Holy Spirit, healing, or believing you will go bankrupt, or believing you will get cancer.

So if life and death are in the power of the tongue, and I will have whatsoever I say, then how can the devil ever convince me to say negative stuff? That’s a good question, because, like I said earlier, no one would ever willingly sabotage their own life.

The nature of the devil is to deceive. If he came up to you in a red suit and a pitchfork and told you to kill yourself, you would probably laugh at him. And remember, his goal (according to John 10:10) is to steal, kill, and destroy. That is his sole objective. So if he comes to you in disguise, with a very subtle suggestion, you wouldn’t even notice it. Then slowly, you begin to welcome his conversation. Before you know it, you are fully entangled and don’t even realize it

It’s like the guy who picks up a hitchhiker on the side of the road (even knowing in his heart that he shouldn’t). The hitchhiker is very thankful for the ride, and climbs in the backseat. After some delightful conversation, you allow him to move to the front seat. Now he is in the passenger seat, and convinces you to let him take the wheel. After some time, the hitchhiker is driving the vehicle, and now you are going along for the ride in the backseat, unable to get him out. That is how the devil is.

But Pastor Troy, what do you mean disguise? I would certainly be able to see the devil coming!

No, you can’t see him coming, that is the main problem. He is going to come at you in the spirit. In the spirit, he can disguise his voice to sound like your voice. So out of ignorance, you think it is your own voice, or your own thoughts in your head, not realizing you are being craftily manipulated by a demonic scheme that was formulated to attack you and totally cause you to sabotage yourself. Those thoughts or voices are really demonic spirits (in disguise) speaking to you. You give them power by believing them. You give them ultimate power by confessing out of your mouth what you believe is in your head. This is the ultimate deception.

I was driving home a few days ago, and I had the most depressing thought flash through my mind. So now I have two choices, either believe the thought, or cast it down. I immediately (according to 2 Cor 10:5), cast down the thought (a demonic spirit), and brought it under captivity, to the obedience of Christ. I have written extensively about how to specifically do this, but the important thing is recognize that the thought is NOT you, so do not receive it. Immediately after doing this I felt a rush of peace and joy, as that thought (demon) was cast out.

But let’s say, hypothetically, that I did not cast it down. I began to believe the depressing thoughts. Spiritually, I am letting in a demonic spirit. After some time, the thoughts will become more intense, causing me to think more damaging thoughts, or more perverse thoughts. Why is this happening? Because of the access that the first demon has, he is now bringing in more demons, even more powerful than himself. Over time, this leads to a full on stronghold in a person’s mind, and they feel there is no escape

Let’s examine it from a biological perspective. Doctors say that depression is an illness, a chemical imbalance, and that is 100% true. When a person embraces a thought, many different chemical reactions take place in the brain. If it is a positive thought, various hormones are released into the body, producing happiness and healing effects throughout the body. A negative thought produces toxic chemicals to be released into the body, causing severe damage. To make matters worse, continued thinking in a certain way causes lasting neural pathways in the brain, in effect poisoning your body. For more info on how the brain operates, with spiritual insights, read Dr. Caroline Leaf’s book “Who Switched Off My Brain”.

I do not want to go too deep into the science, but it is possible to reclaim your brain and rid yourself of toxic thoughts and negative neural pathways in your brain (which is deliverance from demons and healing in spiritual terms). The way out is simply to feast on the Word of God day and night. Reject any thoughts, even though they seem like they are coming from you, that do not line up with the word of God.

Your body was created by God beautifully, to manifest the reality of heaven on earth. His original design was that He would implant a thought from heaven into your mind, and then you would manifest it by speaking it out of your mouth. Don’t allow the enemy to hijack this divine power by using your mind and your mouth to accomplish his plan of stealing, killing, and destroying!

The choice is 100% yours to make. You can either choose life or choose death:

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV)

It is a lie from hell that you cannot control your thoughts. Just like how the airport security must examine every bag that comes through the gate, so shall you examine every thought that crosses your mind. You never know which one may contain a terrorist bomb. And even though you may not be able to control which thoughts cross through your mind, you can control which thoughts you allow to stay there. You cannot control which birds fly over you, but you can control if you let them build a nest on top of your head.

So in conclusion, what then should we think? What should we focus our thoughts on? Paul says in Colossians 3:2, to set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. Then in Philippians 4:8, he said to think on whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

If you are reading this today and struggle with depressing thoughts, angry thoughts, lustful thoughts, or suicidal thoughts, I want to encourage you that you can win this battle. In fact, your victory is guaranteed in the Word of God. Yes you can have a peaceful mind. God Himself says it in Isaiah 26:3. He says, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you

God bless you!

4 Things You Can Do to Hear the Voice of God with Clarity

Posted in Uncategorized on May 19, 2014 by troyanthonysmith

The last few days I have been moving strongly in the prophetic realm and in hearing the voice of God for specific details. Last night I took a team out with me to the food court at the local mall for an exercise in hearing the voice of God. The exercise was to prophesy to a stranger, by writing down on a sheet of paper 2 or 3 things that the Holy Spirit would like to share with them. We then identified a young lady a few tables away from us and decided to choose her.  2 of the things that I received from God about her was that she is a big dreamer, and that her big dreams have alienated members of her family. I also heard from God that she likes pets, especially cats. So altogether we had about 9 or 10 things that the Holy Spirit wanted to say to her. I then approached her with the sheet of paper we wrote…and it totally blew her away. She confirmed everything that we said, and even said she is pet lover and has two cats!

God wants to speak to you, and reveal things about other people to you. Why? Simply because God loves people! Nothing melts people’s hearts quicker than a word straight from the throne room. Yet people show their responsiveness to the Spirit in various different ways. Some people, who are not familiar with God will probably not show any reaction, or give you a cold facial expression. For example, one girl that I ministered to yesterday in the food court showed absolutely no emotion. She was walking in the food court with her two friends and I asked all 3 of them if they wanted to know what God wanted to share with them. Then I pointed to the girl and said, ‘you want to know, don’t you?’ She nodded and sat down at our table and I began to speak into her life as the Holy Spirit began to reveal things. I told her that she was very creative, and that God has given her the ability to draw. Then Angelica chimed in and began to reveal additional things to the girl. All the while this girl show absolutely no emotion. Usually people will have a big smile on their face, or begin to cry, but she showed nothing. Then the Holy Spirit showed me a candy with a hard shell on the outside, but a soft core on the inside. (Angelica received that same vision by the way). So I told the girl what I saw, that she had a hard exterior, that she puts up for protection, but in fact she has a soft heart.

So how exactly do you tap into what the Spirit is saying? Yes He wants to reveal things, but how do you get Him to reveal it to you? Here are 4 things you can do to begin to hear the voice of God to minister to others.

1. Pray in tongues alot. . Tongues is a free gift that is available to every believer. 1 Corinthians 2 says that when you pray in tongues you are speaking the wisdom of God in a mystery, hidden wisdom. You are releasing wisdom constantly the more you speak in this heavenly language. But you know what most people don’t do after they speak in tongues? Ask for the interpretation of what they just prayed. The interpretation can come immediately or later on throughout the day in the form of a vision, thought, or idea. 2. Forget about yourself. Christ wants to move through you, but many times you can limit his power by “you” getting in the way. Many years ago when they asked minister John G. Lake how was he able to perform such miracles. They assumed it was because he was extraordinarily gifted or possessed some sort of ability. He responded, “I am not able to do these things because of who I am, I am able to do these things because I am able to forget who I am.” Key point: You are not the one healing people or prophesying to anyone, it is Christ in you. Forget about yourself, so that Christ can arise. Decrease, so that He may increase.

3. Position yourself to hear. You know why most people don’t hear? Because they do not expect to hear. You must actually expect God to speak words to you. At first it will probably be more generic things, than actually specific details such as names or medical conditions, but continue to press in. Matthew 7:7-11 says to ask (in this case, ask for a word) and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asks receives.

4. Take risks-Step out of the Boat! Once you begin speaking you will notice the Holy Spirit will start flooding your mind with thoughts, vision, or even impressions. Some might seem pretty out there (such as a name or specific detail), but you will never know if it is God or not until you step out in faith! The more you do it, the more confident you will become in it. Yet each time it will take faith, so there will always be that sense of being unsure. Just go for it! The more you are willing to risk, the greater the reward. Sure you can say, “I want you to know that God loves you…” and then as you grow, step out and say “I want you to know that God loves you, and not to worry about that interview, God has a better job for you next week!”

Remember to practice practice practice. Allow the Holy Spirit in you to flood your thoughts, so keep your mind free of junk that can clog your soul. Junk like bad television, fear, or worthless conversation can creep into your thinking and negatively affect you.

You can do it!
